This school was formerly known as Sekolah Arumugam Pillai,United Plantations Estate, as it was built buy philanthropist Dato’ N T S. Arumugam Pillai who owned the estate and several other plantations in the north-western region of Peninsular Malaysia.In 1984 the management of the United Plantations estate was taken over by the state controlled Kedah State Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) through an auction after he was slapped by a hefty tax bill.
